MORNING PRAYER

Today is Holy Thursday, the day the Catholic Church Commemorates the Last Supper. It is also called Maundy Thursday in certain parts of the world – the term “Maundy” meaning "washing of the feet". There are many important things about this day: Jesus washing each of the disciples’ feet, Jesus making predictions that come true in the future, and Jesus giving up his Body and Blood for us in the creation of Holy Communion, to name a few.

My Lord,

We thank You this day –

in particular, for Your presence with us here on Earth,

then and now.

We thank You for the many ways

You showed us how worthy You are to follow,

even though we do not deserve You.

You taught us that even though You are the Son of God,

a helpful person serves those around them.

You gave up your Body and Blood for us on this day,

and through You, we are saved.

Surely, there is no greater love than yours.

Thank You.

PRESIDENTS CUP DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT
The Presidents Cup Dodgeball Tournament is during the lunch hours of May 5^th – May 9^th and May 12^th – May 15^th. Join the fun and win prizes! Students must form teams of 6 players. Team entry forms are available at the main office or the SLC Office in the Commons, and are to be handed in at the main office by Wednesday, April 30^th. 

HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD SEASON
The St. Mary High School track season is set to begin on Monday, April 28th. It is open to all students in grade 9-12. Come on out and show off your true athleticism! The dates of the three track meets this year are Wednesday, May 21/Thursday, May 22; Wednesday, May 28/Thursday, May 29; and Tuesday, June 6/Wednesday, June 7. GARDEN BENCH FOR MR. OLVER

There is a garden bench in the shop that will be donated to Mr. Olver. The hope is to have it full of names and messages from students and staff at St. Mary. Students and staff who would like to wood-burn their name or a message into the bench are free to do so over noon hours. Please come to the shop where Mr. Welter, Mr. Langlois, or Mr. Thalheimer will assist with the wood-burning. 

JUNE AWARDS: Grade 9 – 11 General Proficiency Award
The Grade 9 – 11 General Proficiency Award is a non-monetary award given to a student in grade 9, grade 10, and grade 11. It recognizes the student’s contribution to the whole life of St. Mary High School and is based on the following criteria: academic achievement 50%, extra-curricular contributions 40%, and religious life contributions 10%.  Grade 9 - 11 General Proficiency Award Application The deadline to apply is Friday, May 9^th.

JUNE AWARDS: John M. Cuelenaere Public Library Scholarship
The John M. Cuelenaere Public Library Scholarship of $250 is a recognition of a Grade 9 – 12 student who has been enrolled full-time in the academic year of 2024-2025. Candidates are students who have distinguished themselves by being an advocate for literacy in their school or the community and clearly demonstrate a love of reading. While high academics is not a requirement for applying, the student must have a Prince Albert Public Library (PAPL) card and plans for post-secondary education. Preference will also be given to former or current employees of John M. Cuelenaere Library, as well as a current Grade 12 student of École St. Mary High School. John M. Cuelenaere Public Library Scholarship Application The deadline to apply is Friday, May 9^th.

JUNE AWARDS: Rotary Citizenship Scholarship
The Rotary Citizenship Scholarship of $400.00 is a recognition of a Grade 11 or 12 student that exhibits the characteristics of strong citizenship. It is modeled after the Rotary Adventure in Citizenship program with criteria that includes, strong academics, with strong character within the school environment, as well as the community. Candidates are students that respect and deal fairly with their fellow students, as well as participate in school and non-school activities that enhance their lives and the lives of those around them. The students should be planning some type of post-secondary education or training to enhance their personal skills. Rotary Citizenship Scholarship Application The deadline to apply is Friday, May 9^th.

AFFINITY CREDIT UNION: Build a Better World Scholarship  

Grade 12 students who are a member of Affinity Credit Union or have a parent or guardian who is a member are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Students must be enrolling for post-secondary education. This year, 30 scholarships of $1000 will be awarded. 2025 FRANCOPHONE GAMES: July 15th - 25th, 2025
All French-speaking high school students in grades 9 – 12 are invited to compete this summer in Laval, Quebec. The Francophone Games are one of the biggest events and gatherings for French-speaking youth in Canada with over 1200 participants based on 3 profiles and 14 disciplines: Art (Music, Improvisation, Culinary Arts, Theatre), Leadership (Debate, Survival, Social Justice , Medias) and Sport (Track and Field, Badminton, Basketball, Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Beach Volleyball) Team Sask has 100 participants and 20 coaches. The registration fee of $750 includes airfare, accommodations, transportation, all meals, team swag and more! GLADYS STROM MEMORIAL BURSARY

The Gladys Strom Memorial Bursary is open to local students to assist with the costs of their music education (lessons, music camp, courses etc.). Mrs. Gladys Strom was a member and director of the Watsonairs for over 50 years. After her passing in 2006, the Watsonairs created a bursary in her name for the Prince Albert Music Festival. The Opening Door to Tomorrow Career and Job Fair Bursary is open to students (Saskatchewan Rivers, Prince Albert Catholic, Saskatchewan Polytech) and employees (Saskatchewan Health Authority, Prince Albert Community Futures, City of Prince Albert). Attention grade 12 students! Applications are now open for admissions to the University of Saskatchewan. Apply early to take advantage of benefits like early admission and access to scholarships. Students will automatically be considered for a Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship when they apply for admission. These scholarships recognize academic achievements and are awarded based on the admission average.

INDIGENOUS ART CLUB

Students will begin to enhance their skills by working primarily with beads. Artisan trainees will start learning to bead using the 2-needle applique method during the following meeting times: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am - 8:45 am and lunch hour, as well as Wednesday: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm, unless otherwise posted for special event teachings. All participants will be asked to log their hours. The expected time that a project may require ranges from 4 to 30 hours or more. Sessions will enhance students’ skill levels, enabling them to confidently participate at regional, provincial and national levels of Skills Canada competitions. Students will be able to compete at the school level, city and provincial levels this year based on performance and dedication to the skill required. See Mrs. Longjohn-Constant in room B26 for more details. 

JAZZ BAND

Jazz band rehearsals are Wednesday from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm and Friday from 12:30 pm - 1:10 pm. All rehearsals are in the music room.

Students who are interested in the 2023 - 2024 driver education program are to register online through Microsoft Forms: Driver Education Registration 2024 - 2025. Mr. Bourdon will then place students into groups on Edsby. A reminder that spots fill up quickly, so it is important for students to select their three top options to best accommodate each student.
