Today is Canada Health Day. It is celebrated in health care facilities and community service centres across the country. This day reminds us that health and healing are essential to our baptismal vocation. We are called to take responsibility for our personal health, as well as the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health of our communities. 

Dear God,

Thank you for all of the people who dedicate their lives 

to bettering the health of others.

We ask You to bless health care workers,

and to guide each of us to continue to live by our baptismal vows

and to love and care for one another.

We ask this through Jesus’ name.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

TRACK & FIELD

All students who plan to attend the district meet this week need to meet in Mr. Noble room on Wednesday, May 29, as soon as the lunch bell rings. Important information will be given out including uniforms, spikes, and permission forms.  

ANDERSON PUMP HOUSE: Summer Students 

Anderson Pump House plans to hire Summer Students to support the staff during the busy summer months. Duties will include yard and shop tasks: yard/lawn maintenance, general cleanup, vehicle detailing, helping in the warehouse, and other duties as required. Hours of work are 8 am to 5 pm during the summer months.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

·         A valid Class 5 driver's license is preferable.

·         Able to work in a team environment and show respect for other workers.

·         Exemplary attendance and solid work ethic.

·         Familiar with basic tools and machinery including lawnmowers, trimmers, and other small hand shop/yard tools.

·         Must have own CSA-approved, steel-toed boots. All other required PPE will be supplied as needed.

APPLICATIONS FOR SLC 2024-2025

Students in Grade 9, 10, & 11 that are interested in becoming a part of the 2024-2025 SLC are encouraged to apply. Information about the various positions/roles is on the application form available at the SLC office, main office, on Edsby, and posted on the school website at http://pa.pursueonline.com/index.php/community/. The deadline for students to apply is Friday, May 31st at 9:00 a.m. Application forms must be returned to the main office, or slid under the door of the SLC room.  

MADD CANADA BURSARY PROGRAM: $10,000

MADD Canada is a national charitable organization committed to stopping impaired driving and supporting victims. One bursary of $10,000 (The Louise Joanne Twerdy Leadership Bursary) will be awarded and additional bursaries in the amount of $5,000 may also be awarded. MADD Canada’s Bursary Program is open to Canadian citizens who have themselves been severely injured or who have had a parent (or legal guardian) or sibling killed or severely injured, as a result of an impaired driving crash. The applicant must also be enrolled in a full-time, ministry-approved, post-secondary educational program for the upcoming academic year. The application deadline is Friday, May 31^st. LIBRARY NEWS: June 10th, June 11th, June 18th, June 24th
Monday, June 10th is the last day to RESERVE a book (fiction/non-fiction) book. Tuesday, June 11th is the last day to SIGN OUT a book (fiction/non-fiction). By Tuesday, June 18th students are to RETURN all books (fiction/non-fiction), as well as resources that are no longer needed for class (textbooks, English class novels, calculators, headphones etc.). All items are due Monday, June 24th.

SUPPORT MENSTRUAL EQUITY INITIATIVE: Free Products

École St Mary High School has received free feminine menstrual products (pads and tampons) to support our students. Students who want these free products can go to the main office or see Mrs. Cantin in Room 115.  The initiative is a three-year partnership (Ministry of Education, the Status of Women Office, SaskBuilds, school division) created to distribute products in a cost-effective equitable and accessible manner. The initiative was established between the Ministry of Education and the Shoppers Foundation of Women's Health to provide 12 million menstrual products.

SASKATCHEWAN REGIONAL PARK PASS LENDING PROGRAM

Another great reason to get a public library card: This year, the Regional Park Pass Lending Program will run from Friday, May 17^th to Sunday, September 15^th. During this time, anyone with a valid Saskatchewan public library card, or university library card, can borrow a regional park pass at their local library for seven days and use it to visit any of Saskatchewan's nearly 100 regional parks! ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION:

Jack Moore Memorial Scholarship/Burgess Bursary

Saskatchewan Command is offering 10 Scholarships and 10 Bursaries of $500 each. Students may apply for a Scholarship, a Bursary, or both. Scholarships and Bursaries are awarded based on Grade 12 academic performance using the Transcript of Secondary Level Achievement (Gr. 12 departmental marks). In addition, Bursaries are awarded based on financial need. Details about selection criteria, as well as an application form are available here The deadline to apply is August 15^th.

SSBA AWARD: 2 x $3,000

Each year, the Saskatchewan School Boards Association (SSBA) awards two $3,000 scholarships to graduating Saskatchewan high school students going into post-secondary study: the Degree Program Scholarship (sponsored by AON) and the Technical/Trade Program Scholarship (sponsored by Manulife). Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated good character, community leadership, financial need, and a 500-word essay. The application deadline is August 31^st, 2024. DRIVER EDUCATION 2023 - 2024

Students who are interested in the 2023 - 2024 driver education program are to register online through Microsoft Forms: 2023 - 2024 Drivers Ed Registration Form Mr. Bourdon will then place students into groups on Edsby. A reminder that spots fill up quickly, so it is important to select your three top options to best accommodate each student. 

The start dates for session are as follows:

March 4 - March 25 (after school)

March 4 - April 24 (lunch hour)

April 8 - April 26 (after school)

May 1 - May 23 (after school)

July 2 - July 10 summer class (9:00am - 1:00pm)

Please note the following:

·         Students must be 15 years old by the start of the session.

·         Sessions will be in the Room 246.

·         All sessions begin at 3:30pm and end at 5:30pm. (except for the summer/lunch sessions).

·         During your driver education class, you will need:

·         your birth certificate

·         your MYSGI account number. (needed on the first day of class)

·         Students must go to SGI to get their MySGI customer number.

·         a pencil/pen and notebook

KARATE CLASSES

Are you looking for a fitness and discipline activity? If yes, Prince Albert Budokai Karate is hosting its classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 1405 Bishop Pascal Place (Elevation Academy Gym - Former Rivier). Beginners' classes are at 6 pm and advanced classes are at 7 pm. We welcome new and returning students.
