Today’s prayer was written by an École St. Mary High School student. It is about perseverance.  

God,

When You sent your son down to earth,

You gave him many impossible tasks,

but instead of giving up,

your son persevered and triumphed.

Help us to have the strength of will and faith more like your son,

and help us to triumph over whatever we are struggling with.

We thank you, Lord,

for all the strength that You have given us,

and we ask that You continue to do so, as well.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

2023/2024 SCHOOL REGISTRATION & COURSE SELECTIONS
Students are encouraged to register for next year and select courses, as soon as possible. Information is available on Edsby regarding registration, new program delivery models and course selections. The deadline to submit course selections is Friday, June 2nd.

GRAD FEES

Grad Fees have been added to the SchoolCash accounts of all graduates. These Grad fees are due Friday, June 2^nd and can be paid online with SchoolCash or at the main office. As well, all other outstanding fees already on SchoolCash (lost books, school fees etc.) must be paid. Additional information is available on the Edsby Grad Group.

MOST GENTLEMANLY & DEPORTMENT: Graduate Voting

Voting is now open for these awards. Graduates must use their school email to open a Microsoft Forms on the Edsby Grad Group to enter their First, Second and Third choice. Voting will close at the end of the school day on Friday, June 2^nd. 

THANKSGIVING FOR THE YEAR & AWARDS CEREMONY

The Thanksgiving for the Year & Awards Ceremony is an opportunity to reflect on the past school year and acknowledge the outstanding accomplishments of our students. All families are welcomed to attend the event on Wednesday, June 7^th at 9:00 am - 11:00 am. An Edsby message will be sent by the end of the week to students (and their parents /guardians) who will be receiving an award during the ceremony. Parents/guardians who are unable to attend the ceremony are invited to use the livestream link that will be made available early next week and posted on the Edsby river. 

YOUTH TRACK MEET: Student Volunteers

Students who are interested in helping with a youth track meet (be group leaders, measure throws/jumps, run races etc.) on Thursday, June 8^th from 4 pm – 6 pm at the Harry Jerome Track are asked to message Mr. Noble on Edsby or stop by room 144 to volunteer. Students will need to provide their own ride to the track. About 18 – 20 volunteers are needed. This is a great item to add to a resume as volunteer experience!

GRAND MARCH 2023

Any graduates who are wanting to attend the Grand March at the Art Hauser on Monday, June 26^th at 7 pm. Must complete a new Microsoft forms by Friday, June 9th. The Microsoft form, as well as additional information, is available on the Edsby Grad Group. Please remember to check this group, on a regular basis, for the latest updates pertaining to graduation.

CACERMDI’S ANNUAL ESSAY & QUIZ COMPETITION: Gr 9-12  

The Canadian Centre for Raw Materials Display Inc. was developed to disseminate essential information on raw materials availability in Canada and other parts of the world. Students who are interested in the field of geology may want to partake in the Annual Essay & Quiz Competition for grades 9-12 students! The essay topic is “Global Shortage of Raw Materials: Causes, Effects and Solutions”. The Essay & Quiz Competition involves three stages from May 15, 2023 to June 16, 2023.   

 Essays are to be submitted by June 10, 2023 via email to info@cacermdi.ca or cacermdi@gmail.com. The essays will be marked, and only successful entrants will be contacted for Stage 2.  

 Successful entrants will be invited to the quiz competition on June 16, 2023. The quiz competition will focus on all raw materials in Canada, with emphasis on the ones Canada is leading in terms of its production, as well as a few questions about the ones imported into Canada from other countries.   

 A ceremony will be held on CACERMDI Raw Materials Day and prizes will be awarded. The ceremony will be hosted in Prince Albert.

JACK MOORE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP & BURGESS BURSARY

Saskatchewan Command is offering 10 Scholarships and 10 Bursaries of $500 each. Criteria includes being a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a current- or former-serving member of the Canadian Armed or Allied Forces or RCMP, as well as entering First Year of Post-Secondary Education at a University, Technical/Trade School or a Business College. The applications must be received by August 15^th. YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The Multicultural Council in Prince Albert is looking for students to get involved in their Youth Ambassador Program. It is an annual program which focuses on Youth engagement and participation in the community. Youth participants will be given an opportunity to propose a youth-led initiative that focus on reconciliation, anti-racism, diversity, inclusion and democratic engagement and strengthening youth resilience in the community. SCIENCE CAMP FOR SASKATCHEWAN INDIGENOUS YOUTH

The First Nations University of Canada is inviting students, ages 12 - 18, to spend two days of learning from experts, including Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and scientists. Students will get to explore and learn about monitoring and analyzing water quality, identifying native plants, and even learning computer coding! The science camp is Thursday, July 13th and Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Prince Albert Elks Lodge. Spots are limited so sign up early! Admission is FREE! CANADA-SASKATCHEWAN GRANT: Students with Disabilities

Students with either a permanent, a persistent or a prolonged disability who are enrolled in a program at an educational institution may be eligible to receive the Canada-Saskatchewan Grant for Services and Equipment. IBAS YOUNG COMMUNITY LEADER BURSARY

The Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan (IBAS) is offering the 2023 ‘IBAS Young Community Leader Bursary’ for grade 12 students entering post-secondary education. It is a one-time cash bursary amount of $5,000 to be given to the successful applicant. PHE SASKATCHEWAN HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP: 5 x $300

Physical & Health Education (PHE) Saskatchewan is looking to award 5 scholarships of $300 to high school students who meet the following criteria: a minimum of two Physical Education/Wellness or Health credits, be actively involved in the school Intramural and Extra-Curricular program, have an average of at least 70% in subject areas required for minimum entrance requirements for his/her intended area of study, exhibit strong leadership and sportsmanship qualities, and be a positive role model in his/her school and/or community. In addition, the student must be enrolled in first year studies in one of the following programs in a Saskatchewan Post-Secondary Institution: College of Education with a major or minor in Physical Education and/or Health (U of S), College of Kinesiology (U of S), Faculty of Education with a major or minor in Physical Education and/or Health (U of R), Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies (U of R), and the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Recreation and Community Development program. 2022/2023 DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM

The remaining start dates for the 2022-2023 sessions are as follows:

May 1 - May 24 (after school)

July 3 - July 11 summer class (9:00 am - 1:00 pm)

To register, take a photo of the QR code or click on the blue link posted below. Once the registration is complete, students will receive an Edsby message from Mr. Bourdon to confirm the start date for their driver education session.

Please note the following:

·       Students must be 15 years old by the start of the session.

·        Sessions will be in the Room 246. 

·        All sessions begin at 3:30pm and end at 5:30pm. (except for the summer/lunch sessions).

·        During the driver education class, students will need:

·        their birth certificate

·        their hospitalization card

·        their MYSGI account number. (needed on the first day of class)

*Students must go to SGI to get their MySGI customer number.

GAMES CLUB
Games Club is a fun drop-in activity available to all students every Tuesday & Thursday at lunch in the Lecture Theatre (B5).  If you enjoy playing board games or want to test your skill on the Switch then come by. There is a large variety of board games, ranging from card games, games of chance to strategy games. There is also a Nintendo Switch available with Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart or Rocket League. Bring your lunch and play some games! Come with a friend or by yourself.  

ABORIGINAL CRAFTS CLUB: Beading / Hand stitch

Students who are interested in participating in an Aboriginal Crafts Club are encouraged to join the Creativi-team. There are several sessions being offered. Students who are a part of the Bead Team can attend open times in room B26 before school, at lunch, and every Tuesday after school. All other students who are interested in participating can attend every Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and the occasional Saturday from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 pm. For more information go to Aboriginal Crafts Club or talk to Mrs. Constant in room B26 or Ms. McLeod in room 206.

ART CLUB
Art club is in the Art Room (B18/19) and will run every Monday after school from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Come out to make some great art! Drop-ins are welcome!

KARATE CLASSES

Students who are interested in martial arts and/or self-defense classes are encouraged to join the Prince Albert Budokai Karate Club at the Elevation Academy Gym (1405 Bishop Pascal Place, Prince Albert - formerly, the Rivier Gym). Starting in January, classes are Mondays and Wednesdays: Beginner Classes from 6 pm to 7 pm and Advance Classes from 7 pm to 8 pm.
