PRESIDENT’S CUP DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT

The 2023 President's Cup Dodgeball Tournament begins on Monday, January 9th. The schedule is posted on the gym wall or available at http://pa.pursueonline.com/index.php/community/

2022/2023 DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM

The remaining start dates for the 2022-2023 sessions are as follows:

March 1 - March 22 (after school)

March 6 - April 24 (lunch hour)

March 27 - April 24 (after school)

May 1 - May 24 (after school)

July 3 - July 11 summer class (9:00 am - 1:00 pm)

To register, take a photo of the QR code or click on the blue link posted below. Once the registration is complete, students will receive an Edsby message from Mr. Bourdon to confirm the start date for their driver education session.
Please note the following:
·       Students must be 15 years old by the start of the session.
·        Sessions will be in the Room 246. 
·        All sessions begin at 3:30pm and end at 5:30pm. (except for the summer/lunch sessions).
·        During the driver education class, students will need:
·        their birth certificate
·        their hospitalization card
·        their MYSGI account number(needed on the first day of class)
*Students must go to SGI to get their MySGI customer number.

U of S COLLEGE OF EDUCATION INFORMATION SESSIONS

Students who are interested in enrolling in one of the U of S  Bachelor of Education programs for fall 2023 are encouraged to register for an online information session for prospective students and their parents on Wednesday, January 18th from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Representatives from the College of Education will share a brief presentation about Bachelor of Education program routes, admission requirements and application deadlines, testimonial from a current College of Education student and testimonial from a College of Education alumnus. A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation. TD SCHOLARSHIP FOR INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

Together with AFOA Canada, a not-for-profit led by Indigenous Peoples, TD has worked to build a scholarship for Indigenous Peoples. Through it, 25 scholarships are available to be awarded annually, worth up to $60K over 4 years. The submission deadline is January 16, 2023. Regardless of your field of study, scholarships are open to First Nations, Metis and Inuit who are members / citizens of a First Nation, Metis or Inuit community who: have applied for a full-time minimum 2-year program with an approved post-secondary institution for the next year of study; or are enrolled in, or accepted to, a full-time minimum two-year program with an approved post-secondary institution for the next year of study. HORATIO ALGER CANADIAN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Horatio Alger Association of Canada will be awarding 160 scholarships of $5000. The Canadian Scholarships are awarded to eligible students across all provinces and territories in Canada. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Applicants must be a Grade 11 student with plans to enter university in the fall of 2024. To be eligible to apply for the Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

·         Be enrolled full-time as a high school grade 11 or first-year CEGEP student in Canada

·         Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university

·         Prove critical financial need ($65,000 or less annual net income per family is required)

·         Demonstrate desire and ability to be entrepreneurial in a chosen field

·         Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities

·         Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

·         Maintain a minimum grade percentage of 70

·         Be Canadian citizens

UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO MATH CONTESTS

This year, students will have the opportunity to participate in the math contests offered by the University of Waterloo. Students who participate will be challenged to solve math-related problems. Students may practice for the competition using the contests from previous years available at https://www.cemc.uwaterloo.ca/contests/past_contests.html (Be sure to choose past contests from your current grade level so that you are practicing for the correct exam: Grade 9 - Pascal Contest, Grade 10 - Cayley Contest, Grade 11 - Fermat Contest, Grade 12 - Euclid Contest.) The Grade 9-11 math contests will be on Monday, February 27th, 2023, and the Grade 12 math contest will be on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023.  Students who want to compete in the contest that applies to their grade level must complete the forms document, available on Edsby, by Tuesday, January 10th, 2023. U of S EARLY ADMISSIONS
Attention grade 12 students! Applications are now open for admissions to the University of Saskatchewan. Apply early to take advantage of benefits like early admission and access to scholarships. (Some scholarship applications are due before the application deadline.) VERNA J. KIRKNESS SCHOLARSHIPS: Indigenous Grade 11 & 12

The one-week, in-person Verna J. Kirkness Education Foundation (VJKF) Program for Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) Grade 11 and 12 students will be taking place on campus at universities this May! Successful applicants will receive full VJKF Program Scholarships to participate in the VJKF Program to learn about science, engineering, technology and math. This year’s program is offered in partnership with six universities from across Canada, offering Indigenous high-school students an opportunity to learn directly from professors and their teams about the exciting research (science, engineering, technology and math) happening on campuses across Canada. Students accepted to the VJKF Program can choose which research area they want to learn more about. U of S RESIDENCE APPLICATIONS

Residence applications for the University of Saskatchewan Fall 2023/2024 are scheduled to open in November! In an effort to assist new applicants, first year applicants are guaranteed a spot in Voyageur Place Residence when they apply prior to the deadline of January 31, 2023. SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

T1D YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP

This $500 Scholarship is provided by the Cosmopolitan Foundation of Canada, in partnership with the Prince Albert Cosmopolitan Club. You are eligible for this program if: 
      1. you reside in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba; 
      2. you are a Type 1 Diabetic
      3. you are in your High School Graduating Year and have been accepted to Post Secondary Institution or are currently enrolled in a Post-Secondary Institution returning for another year of study; 
      4. you have been an active volunteer in the Diabetic Community;  
      5. a Volunteer Coordinator (or similar) from a related organization supports your scholarship application; and
            6. you provide one other written reference in support of your activities.

HOUSE OF COMMONS PAGE PROGRAM

Each year 40 bilingual students graduating from high schools across Canada are selected to participate in the House of Commons Page ProgramPages are first-year students registered at one of the eligible post-secondary institutions in the national capital region. Pages work on a part-time basis for one year. Pages support parliamentary democracy by providing a range of services to members of Parliament in the chamber and around Parliament Hill. Students who are interested in applying must be intending to enroll in their first year of university or college the following September. U of S EVENTS

USask will be offering a series of virtual events throughout the year. These will be listed on the Event webpage. USask also offers both in-person and virtual campus tours. Students can book a tour at the Campus Tour webpage 


GAMES CLUB
Games Club is a fun drop-in activity available to all students every Tuesday & Thursday at lunch in the Lecture Theatre (B5).  If you enjoy playing board games or want to test your skill on the Switch then come by. There is a large variety of board games, ranging from card games, games of chance to strategy games. There is also a Nintendo Switch available with Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart or Rocket League. Bring your lunch and play some games! Come with a friend or by yourself.  


ABORIGINAL CRAFTS CLUB: Beading / Hand stitch

Students who are interested in participating in an Aboriginal Crafts Club are encouraged to join the Creativi-team. There are several sessions being offered. Students who are a part of the Bead Team can attend open times in room B26 before school, at lunch, and every Tuesday after school. All other students who are interested in participating can attend every Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and the occasional Saturday from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 pm. For more information go to Aboriginal Crafts Club or talk to Mrs. Constant in room B26 or Ms. McLeod in room 206.


ART CLUB
Art club is in the Art Room (B18/19) and will run every Monday after school from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Come out to make some great art! Drop-ins are welcome!

KARATE CLASSES

Students who are interested in martial arts and/or self-defense classes are encouraged to join the Prince Albert Budokai Karate Club at the Elevation Academy Gym (1405 Bishop Pascal Place, Prince Albert - formerly, the Rivier Gym). Starting in January, classes are Mondays and Wednesdays: Beginner Classes from 6 pm to 7 pm and Advance Classes from 7 pm to 8 pm. PRINCE ALBERT WRESTLING CLUB

Anyone who is interested in wrestling, please contact Mr. McDougall or Ms. Richards. All ages are welcome: ages 4 to adult. Practices are 3 times a week.
