MORNING PRAYER

Each year of school picks a spiritual theme. This year the theme is “A Family of Faith”. We know that families come in different sizes and forms. This year we will focus on the importance of the family we live with, our extended family, and our family of faith.    

Loving God, 

Please go before us as we embark on a new and different school year.  

Bless the work you ask us to do this year at schools, and at home.  

Help us to remember to greet each person we meet with dignity and love. 

We ask this through Christ, Our Lord.

DRIVER EDUCATION 2021-2022

Students who are interested in 2021-2022 driver education program are encouraged to  register online for a session by completing a Microsoft Forms at http://pa.pursueonline.com/index.php/community/.  Once the registration is complete, students will be contacted, through Edsby, by Mr. Bourdon to confirm the start date for your driver education session. The sessions are as follows:

September 7 - 28 (after school); October 4 - 26 (after school); October 25 - December 8 (lunch hour); November 16 - December 6 (after school); Dates for Jan - June 2022 : TBD

FREE MICROSOFT 365 FOR STUDENTS

Students enrolled in the Prince Albert Catholic School Division have the opportunity to install Microsoft Office 365 on their desktops, laptops and mobile devices. Instructions and additional information is available at http://pa.pursueonline.com/index.php/community/

VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS

Thursday September 2nd 

3:30-5:00 p.m. Grade 9 and 10 boys 

5:00-6:30 p.m. Grade 11 and 12 boys

6:30-7:30 p.m. Grade 9 girls

7:30-8:30 p.m. Grade 10 girls

8:30-9:30 p.m. Grade 11 and 12 girls

Friday September 3rd 

3:30-4:30 p.m. Grade 9 girls

4:30-5:30 p.m. Grade 10 girls

5:30-6:30 p.m. Grade 11 and 12 girls

6:30-8:00 p.m. Grade 9 and 10 boys

8:00-9:30 p.m. Grade 11 and 12 boys

* For the sessions that start at 5 p.m. and later, please arrive at the gym no earlier than 15 minutes before your session and be changed in your volleyball practice clothing.

* Please bring a water bottle for your session along with a face mask. 

* The tryout schedule for Tuesday, September 7th and Wednesday, September 8th will be posted on Friday, September 3rd.

GIRLS SOCCER SIGN UP AND TRYOUTS
Girls in Grade 9 – 12 who are interested in playing soccer this year are encouraged to sign up on Friday, September 3rd at noon in the small gym. Tryouts will be on Wednesday, September 8 at 3:30 pm at Kinsmen field. Students need full gear for tryouts.

BOYS SOCCER SIGN UP AND TRYOUTS

Grade 9-12 boys who are interested in playing soccer are encouraged to attend a short meeting and sign-up session at 11:55 am in the Theatre (B5) on Friday, September 3^rd. Practice will be on Tuesday, September 7^th from 7:30-8:30 am at St. Paul’s field and on Thursday, September 9^th from 3:45-5:00 pm at Kinsmen field (pending confirmation of field booking from city).

SR and JR FOOTBALL

Football will start after school at 3:30 pm in the team room on Thursday, September 2nd (Grade 9 and Grade 10) and Friday (Grade 9-12). No experience is needed.

SMHS GOLF SIGN-UP

Students in Grade 9-12 who are interested in participating in golf are encouraged to sign-up at lunch or after school on Thursday, September 2nd, Friday, September 3rd, or Tuesday, September 7^th with either Mr. Sosnowski (Room 142) or Mrs. Nelson (Room 240). 

SMHS CROSS COUNTRY

Any students interested in participating in cross country are encouraged to sign up at lunch or after school on Tuesday, September 7th or Wednesday, September 8th with Ms. Phaneuf in Room 141.

CHOIR INFORMATIONAL MEETING

Students who are interested in being a member of the choir this year are invited to attend a short meeting on Wednesday, September 8th at the start of lunch hour in the music room (B3). Choir practice/rehearsals will be on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:00 am-8:45 am.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
2021-2022 Student Leadership Council applications are available now and deadline to enroll is Monday, September 13th. Everyone is welcome to participate and come share ideas and energy for the student body. The application form is available at http://pa.pursueonline.com/index.php/school/extracurricular/clubs/ . All roles of the SLC are explained on the first page and application is included on the second page. The applications are used as a way to organize membership only. MODEL UN

Are you interested in current events, world politics, international matters? Do you love social studies, history, and/or law? If so, then, Model UN is for you! There will be a meeting for all students interested in joining Model UN for the 2021-22 year on Monday, September 13 at 12:15 in Rm 246 (French lab). No previous experience is needed! If you cannot attend or if you have any questions, please contact Ms. Khan, Mrs. Morhart, Ms. Glass, Mr. Watt or Mr. Joncas. Students interested are encouraged to join the Edsby group "École St. Mary High School Model UN" to get further updates.
