ELOCUTION & DEBATE: FREE VIRTUAL SUMMER CLASSES
The Saskatchewan Elocution and Debate Association (SEDA) is a charitable, non-profit organization that equips and supports young people (grades 5 to 12) in becoming effective communicators, deep thinkers, and engaged community members. SEDA hosts workshops, tournaments, and debate camps and provides resources to teachers and coaches. In lieu of our traditional summer camp, SEDA is continuing to bring fun and engaging virtual speech and debate classes into the summer! All the information about July classes and how to register is available on the front page of our website, www.saskdebate.ca The classes are a fun and engaging way to build skills and continuing learning in the summer. Sage Hill Writing is a not-for-profit writing education organization offering a FREE five-day summer creative writing workshop to teens aged 14-18. Students who are returning to École St. Mary High School are to check their email for two important messages:
1) The May 14th email Registration Information and Important Announcements has the document 2020/2021 Course List and Planning Tool, as well as instructions for registering online.
Step 1 Registration: a link to the 2020-21 Registration Form
Step 2 Course Selection: a link to the SMHS Class Selection Process video tutorial available at https://bit.ly/2LX91Z9 and the school division website, as well as a link to the École St. Mary High School portal to select classes using a student-specific username/password.
2) The May 14th email Online Selection of Classes for 20/21 School Year has the student-specific username password that is required for the École St. Mary High School portal in order to select classes.
Students who are new to École St. Mary High School are invited to contact École St. Mary High School at (306)953-7545 or (306)953-7544 to discuss registration with an administrator.

SCHOLAR TREE SUMMER SCHOLARSHIPS
ScholarTree.ca has a list of scholarships that are open until the end of August and available at the link Summer Scholarship List. Please note that every week scholarships that are about to open for applications are audited to ensure accuracy since there are often changes made at that time. Additionally, each award has unique requirements so students can see their own personalized list, if they create an account on ScholarTree.
Many programs at USask are still accepting applications. These are the deadlines to apply to begin studies in Fall 2020.
- Agriculture and Bioresources is June 1
- Edwards School of Business is June 1
- Engineering is June 1
- Arts and Science is June 1 for international applicants and August 15* for Canadian citizens and permanent residents
*Applicants are encouraged to apply early since class registration opens in June.

PRINCE ALBERT & DISTRICT COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS:
KAWULA AND DAVIDNER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Grade 12 students are encouraged to apply for the Tillie and Joe Kawula Scholarship and the Hershel Davidner Memorial Scholarship. The two $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded to students who value academics, community involvement, and volunteerism and are entering a recognized university or technical institute. One application will apply to both awards. These scholarships are open to Grade 12 graduates from Saskatchewan Rivers School Division, Prince Albert Catholic School Division and the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Prince Albert campus Academic Grade 12 program. An application form and additional information is available at http://bit.ly/AwardGrade12 on the school career website. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, June 30th.
SUPERANNUATED TEACHERS OF SASKATCHEWAN SCHOLARSHIP
The Prince Albert Chapter Scholarship is awarded to a student who is committed to the teaching profession. In order to apply for the $500 scholarship, the student must provide proof of acceptance into a Saskatchewan College of Education and been actively involved in school and community. Additional information about selection criteria and the application process is available here. The deadline to apply is August 1, 2020.

NATIONAL UNION OF PUBLIC AND GENERAL EMPLOYEES SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year, the 390,000 member National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) offers 8 Scholarships of $2,500 each that reflect its pursuit of equal opportunity for workers. Entrants must be the children/grandchildren or foster children/grandchildren of members or retirees of the National Union’s Component unions or its affiliates and who are planning to enter the 1st year of a Canadian public post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis in 2020. All of the 8 scholarships awarded will be based on the best 750 – 1,000 word essay for each scholarship. The deadline for applications and essays is July 6, 2020 and the 8 scholarships may have additional requirements, as noted at https://nupge.ca/content/national-unions-scholarship-program-2020.
SASKATCHEWAN SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year, the Saskatchewan School Boards Association awards a $2,500 scholarship to graduating high students entering a Degree Program, and a $2,500 scholarship to graduating high student entering a Technical/Trade Program. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated good character, community leadership, financial need and a 500-word essay. The application deadline is August 31st.
