MORNING PRAYER
God of knowledge,
Why do we make fun
of what we don’t understand?
If we could see the true meaning in things, we
probably wouldn’t be so quick to judge.
Sometimes we laugh because we are
embarrassed or immature.
When we were very young we laughed when we would
encounter people
who were different from us and subjects that were very
serious.
What
do we laugh at now? Why do we laugh at others?
Do we look for the true
meaning in our differences?
Are we growing in
maturity and trying to understand people and things
that are different than
what we are used to?
Laughing at people and things often shows our
ignorance—our lack of instruction.
God, help us take
the time to understand
those people and things which are different from us.
Amen.
